When you're ready to venture out into the Coast's eclectic lifestyle, we've got a great list of places to visit
- Downtown & Inlet Restaurants
West Coast, Thai, Japanese, European, Chinese, Italian, and a variety of cafes, bakeries and seaside coffee bar await. If you're looking for a romantic waterfront meal, try dining overlooking the Sechelt Inlet or the Georgia Strait and enjoying gourmet fare ranging from eclectic West Coast seafood to the tried and true favorites. If you're feeling a bit more funky or adventurous, Sechelt has a variety of casual and fun ethnic spots. There are also some great dining destinations either southeast in Gibsons or northwest to Pender Harbour/Ruby Lake.
- Art Galleries
The Coast is home to over 700 artists or people deriving most of their income from participation in arts or cultural pursuits. That's pretty unique considering our population of only 28,000. What this means to our guests is a wide variety of storefront galleries, private studios to tour, and an overall lifestyle imbued with the arts.
- Aboriginal History
Don't forget to visit the Tems Swiya Museum, historical centre of the Sechelt Nation, also known as the Sechelt Indian Band. The Tsainko Gift Shop next door offers a beautiful selection of First Nations books, clothing, jewellery and carvings.
- Public & Provincial Parks
Sechelt has some great parks and walking areas, though they are little known. Try a walk through the wonderful shady firs at Hackett Park (great if you are travelling with children, and home to the Annual Hackett Park Craft Fair held every August), explore the wave-sculpted rocky abuttments of Snickett Park along Sechelt's Trail Bay beachfront, or take a stroll around the Sechelt Marsh, home to a resident waterfowl population. One of the Coast's most beautiful Provincial Parks is just across the Inlet... Porpoise Bay Park offers a sandy beach and protected swimming area, grassy picknicking spots and covered benches, and wonderful rambles through the Park's developed trail system.
- Shopping
Sechelt is home to several gift and craft shops, and also has a central mall (stop in to the local Visitor Info Centre in Trail Bay Mall). Other places to get great keepsakes from your trip are Roberts Creek and Molly's Landing in Gibsons. If you like art, the many galleries on the Coast offer an incredibly diverse range of products.
